As running is becoming more popular in the public conscientiousness, running fashion is equaling gaining attention.  Simply put, people want to look their best even while exercising.  However, fashion is not the only consideration when undertaking strenuous activities like running.  The right gear is necessary in order to create an environment conducive to a successful workout.  An increasingly important tool in every runner’s arsenal is their watch.  There are three types of running watches that everyone thinking about or beginning to run should be aware of: the “all in one” watch, the GPS-enabled watch, and the “classic” running watch.  Specifically, we shall discuss the pros, cons, and fashionable aspects of three types of watches.

Running Watches to Consider:
3.  Timex Ironman, $70
Garmin Forerunner 910XT
The Garmin Forerunner 910XT is an example of what we like to classify as an “all in one” running watch.  These watches use GPS to map your run, calculate your pace, calculate your distance, and keep track of your overall time.  Watches like the Forerunner 910XT can be used for multiple activities: running, swimming, etc.  However, the greatest drawback of these watches is the price.  The Garmin Forerunner 910 XT will run you upwards of $400.  These watches are also big and bulky, often not a characteristic of most fashion accessories.  However, if you are set on using GPS to track your run, there are more affordable options out there.

                                                                                       Nike+Sport Watch GPS
The Nike+ SportWatch GPS provides runners with many of the features offered by the Garmin Forerunner 910XT.  The watch will calculate your pace, distance, total time, even your calories burned.  This watch also offers an ingenious feature which the Garmin does not.  It will allow you to track your run by GPS, the Nike+ Sensor in your shoe, or both.  For only $169, this functionality is a steal.  Nike also looks to have taken into consideration not only the functionality of the watch, but the design as well.  The combination of black and lime green makes this watch stand out from the crowd in the best possible way.  However, if you are the type of runner like we are here at PerpetualRunning, you may prefer a more simple watch.

Timex Ironman Series
The Timex Ironman Series of watches are what we like to call “classic” running watches.  These watches do not offer a way to map your run, but they do provide all the functionality you will ever need on a run.  A total run time counter, a countdown timer, and the ability to track your mile splits, allows the Timex Ironman watch to track all the vital components of your run.  Priced at only $70, it is the standard price for a good running watch.  However, it is also the cheapest of the three, making this watch in particular a great buy for both the beginner runner and advanced runner alike.  These watches come in a myriad of colors also making it the most fashionable running watch series we have come across yet.

There are many choices in running watches.  Although, they vary greatly in price, functionality, and fashionability.  You must weigh your options based upon your own needs.  Based on pure value though, the team here at PerpetualRunning can recommend checking out the Timex Ironman Series to get your next run off to a great start!

Beachy Accessories

While on a weekend getaway in Ocean City, New Jersey I came across this quaint store on the boardwalk called Bag Boutique. I noticed their artistic displays and immediately walked in.
The owner showed me their selection of designer bags which included the vegan made brand Big Buddha(left). Big Buddha's soft material and contemporary designs are known to be popular amongst all ages. Amongst their wide selection of designer bags, the store also included local artists who had a variety of their worked displayed. Their bags with polychromatic prints and graphic designs(below) are perfect for the beach.
With the scorching heat outside, customers were busy trying on trendy sun hats that were sold in the store. As sun hats were getting increasingly popular amongst customers, costume jewelry is something that can never lose its color.
From sterling silver jewelry to semi-precious stones and crystals, the store is favored for its extensive range of jewelry. Colored stones like peridot, amethyst and many others were displayed in the store.
Colored stones and jewels are perfect for the beach as they accentuate the essentials of the atmosphere. The similarities of color and texture in shells and stones make individuals prefer colored stoned jewelry on the beach. The store also had a wide variety of colorful American Indian handmade jewelry with stones like coral, turquoise and gaspeite. These colorful pieces of jewelry were known to be popular amongst all ages. The picture below displays the use of the semi-precious stone, peridot in a sterling silver base. Peridot was one of many stones that were displayed aesthetically in the store. With something for every age, the store had a vivid atmosphere which continued to attract customers throughout the day.
